THESE ARE THE SATYRICON CIRCUS AVAILABLE SHOWS:
The dinner of TRIMALCIONE
Flavors and music at Trimalchio's dinner.
the concert of the SATYRICON CIRCUS "Dinner of Trimalcione" retracing the various courses of the most famous among the "literary" dinners of the Roman world, namely that of Trimalcione of the Satyricon of Petronius Referee, reconstructs in a show of music, dance, and quotations, on how they ate in the period of the first empire. Petronio tells it carefully but many other authors also told us what happened on those evenings. Martial first of all in the epigrams, but also Horace in the satires, Juvenal, Pliny the Younger, Cato in the "De Agri Cultura", Cicero, Plautus in the theater. The rich food tasted on the tricliniums, the wine in abundance, the orgiastic music of the flute and percussion instruments, the dancers of Gades, but also a profound meaning, social, political and ritual.
The most important culinary manual in the Roman world is "de coquinaria" by Marco Gavio Apicio. Of him it is said that very rich squandered all his patrimony in food and that he took his own life when he realized that with the money left he could simply do a normal life and not of infinite crapules.
So enjoy your meal with the pestilential garum, with the spelled polentine, the imaginative gustatio ... all seasoned with excellent honey wine (mulsum) and flavored with cumin, pepper and lots of ancient Roman music ...

THE FABLE OF LOVE AND PSYCHICS
music, dance and word show
"Once upon a time there was a king and a queen who had three beautiful daughters", thus begins the Fable of Love and Psyche, center, indeed Heart of the novel, the golden donkey of Apuleius. And the beginning is just the beginning of all the Fairy Tales and it can be said that this is the archetype of many modern fairy tales ... in a sense, the fairy tale of fairy tales. And in the conflicted love story between the God Eros and the beautiful Psyche we find all the fairy tales from Beauty and the Beast to Cinderella ...
And the moral, if a morality is to be found, behind a veil of happy-decadent end, is disturbing, or at least it makes us reflect: "If you want to be happy, my soul, not wanting to know how your love is made". Apuleio's work is a great cultural and linguistic PASTICHE. The language of Apuleius is astonishing, multi-ethnic, dizzyingly leaps from archaism to neologism, typical of an artist who lived in a period when the Roman Empire was now a melting pot of languages and cultures, a great bazaar of idioms, cultures, philosophies and religions. This musical show reproduces the scheme and structure of a show of imperial Rome, where on stage, in the LETTERARY MIME, there were strictly three actors who divided all the parts, but which unlike the Plautus times, told and sang related stories to the Myths, using a form of mixed narration, halfway between the story and the identification with the characters, coaudiuvati on stage by a body of dance, mimes and musicians.
